The Compression Point / 02
Mind
Mind is the world rendered from inside a living system: an embodied, predictive model organised around a continuing point of view.
The proposition
Mind is not a copy of the world. It is the world made navigable.
A mind does not receive reality whole. It compresses an immeasurable field of possible detail into a situated model: this body, these stakes, this moment and the futures that might follow from it.
Perception is therefore active and selective. Memory preserves what may matter again. Prediction reaches ahead of the present. Feeling assigns weight. Together they render a world around a continuing point of view—a world shaped not only by what is there, but by what this living system can do and must remain.
The operation
Three movements.
One continuing structure.

A world begins from somewhere
Every model is anchored in a body with limits, needs, capacities and a particular route through time.

The present opens into futures
Mind anticipates what may happen next and uses error to revise the model that guides action.

The model gathers around a centre
Experience coheres as a world for someone: integrated, weighted and available to a continuing perspective.
What follows

Intelligence is shaped by what it must keep viable
To understand a mind, we must ask not only what it represents but why those representations exist, what body they serve and which futures they help preserve. This changes how we compare animals, humans and artificial systems: performance alone is not yet a point of view.
The world we experience is reality translated into the terms of possible action.
